Clark Davis is a shareholder of the firm and a Managing Director in Pathstone’s Austin office. Clark advises entrepreneurs and family office clients. He has significant experience with issues specific to founders and early employees, such as founder’s equity and options, taxation, estate planning, and philanthropic giving. He advises clients on portfolio construction, private and public market investment, and concentrated position management.
Prior to Pathstone, Clark was a Managing Director of Brainard Capital, where he advised entrepreneurs and family office clients in addition to leading portfolio management for the firm. Prior to Brainard Capital, Clark co-founded Third Coast Capital, a Texas based equity hedge fund. At Third Coast, Clark was jointly responsible for investment decisions as well as for managing the firm. Prior to co-founding Third Coast, Clark was a Partner at Ridgecrest Partners, a New York City based equity hedge fund. He worked at Ridgecrest from the inception of the firm in 1998, where he initially served as an analyst and later as a portfolio manager. Prior to joining Ridgecrest, Clark was an associate at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in New York City on the emerging markets team.
Clark graduated Summa Cum Laude from TCU, with degrees in Finance, Accounting, and Spanish. Clark holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute and is a member of the CFA Society Austin.
Clark grew up in Nashville, TN, but moved to Texas in the early 1990s. After spending a decade in the northeast, Clark returned to Texas to settle in Austin, where he and his wife, Janice, have raised their three daughters.
