Mike Slud serves as Managing Director in Pathstone’s Washington, D.C. office and is responsible for ensuring delivery of investment advice and exceptional, consistent service to complex ultra-high net worth clients. Mike advises affluent individuals and families, as well as endowments and foundations, on a full array of wealth management solutions including investment policy development, asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management, and tax and estate planning. He also supports the firm’s Investment Committee in the areas of asset allocation and long-only manager selection. In addition, Mike is an integral part of the firm’s business development efforts.
With over 25 years of experience in wealth management, Mike utilizes a goals-based approach to managing each client’s wealth. He customizes sophisticated investment strategies to fit individual client preferences and constraints, and works closely with their external advisors to ensure comprehensive service.
Prior to joining Pathstone, Mike was a Managing Director at Convergent Wealth Advisors and served clients in a similar capacity. Mike also served on Convergent’s Investment
Committee and Leadership Committee. Before Convergent, Mike served as Family Investment Officer at GenSpring Family Offices.
He was responsible for the introduction, implementation, and management of GenSpring’s investment process for approximately 30 ultra-high net worth client families across the country. Mike served on the Family Investment Officer Leadership Council and led the talent development initiative for investment personnel. Prior to joining GenSpring in 2003, he held senior leadership roles at Bank of America and Arthur Andersen, LLP.
Mike received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, as well as his Master’s in Accounting, from the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst® and Certified Financial Planner™ designations and has passed the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Series (FINRA) 63 and 65 exams. Mike belongs to the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Washington, D.C.. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mike lives in North Potomac, Maryland with his wife, Lorraine, and their 3 children. Outside of work he enjoys playing tennis and spending time with his family.
